XLERPLATE® steel

At BlueScope Plate Supplies, we supply steel plate to different thicknesses and widths.  Ideal for use in applications where strong structural framework and durability is required, our steel plate is used for a range of projects.  Some uses for plate steel include strengthening foundations and bridges, as well as construction of larger materials and non-workable parts.

Steel plate is a material that is often used to create metal products. It can be manufactured to different thicknesses and widths by cutting and welding it together to create a final product.

The material gains its strength as high-temperature steel is rolled into sheets and layer upon layer of steel is compressed and forged into a single piece of steel until the final dimensions are achieved. As the flat steel sheet cools, it hardens into a usable piece of steel.

Steel plate is used in a variety of industries, from the construction of buildings to the creation of everyday items.

What Makes Our Steel Plates Stand Out?

Many Sizes: We know that different customers have different needs and compromising on the width, thickness or durability is not an option for anyone. Therefore, we manufacture steel plates in many sizes, with different measurements. This is why we’re the first choice for many buyers as we produce what they need.

Ductility: Our steel plates are highly ductile. You can morph them into the thickness, width and size that you require. This can save you a lot of money and also offer you the kind of material that you need to use in a project.

Durability: Steel plates need to be durable so that they can be moulded as per requirements.

Other than that, large projects require steel plates that have exceptional durability. Monuments, building, bridges, and large structures require strong steel plates to provide them with better support and weaker plates won’t be able to do that.

XLERPLATE® steel FAQs

What XLERPLATE® steel sizes are offered by BlueScope Plate Supplies?

We offer almost all sizes. If you can’t find what you need, you can speak to us about getting customised sizes.

Why are the same steel grades belonging from a different country are represented differently?

This is because different countries usually follow different naming systems. When there are several grades in a standard, they are usually listed and grouped in a sequence with respect to their strength (for example, 250 or 250), or chemistry (for example, K1010 or K1020).

What differentiates Grade 250 and HA250?

They are manufactured on two different rolling mills, which is why they differ in characteristics.

Grade 250:

  • Has a thickness ranging from 5mm to 150mm, width from 1200mm to 3200mm, and length up to 18.3m.
  • Has less residual stress.
  • Offers larger plate sizes.
  • Available in heavier gauges.
  • Increased corrosion resistance.

HA250:

  • It is has a thickness ranging from 3mm to 12mm, width from 900mm to 1800mm, and length between 2.4m to 9m.
  • Low in price than Grade 250.
  • Has Improved laser cutting and galvanised coatings.

Is there a difference between a floor plate and a checker plate?

There is no difference between the two. Available in different thicknesses, it is a structured steel plate that has a raised pattern and is used in industrial flooring.

What is normalised XLERPLATE® steel?

It’s a process that refines the grains of XLERPLATE® steel. It is heated in a furnace until transformed to the desired standard. It’s then allowed to cool and grains of steel are produced. The procedure improves the overall strength and toughness of steel.
